Who was champagne charley townshend?

Champagne Charley Townshend was the chief cabinet member of king George the third of England 1766-1767. He came up with the infamous Townshend Revenue Acts which placed tarrifs on lead, glass, paint, paper, and tea imported into the American colonies. This was different from earlier british attempts at taxing the colonies because it was import taxes not intercolonial taxes, but it did not work. The colonists were more angry than before. This helped lead to the American revolution. Amanda if you are reading this for your APUSH extra credit this is Ben and you owe me big time.

When did Britain lose their American colonies?

The principal phase of decolonisation was in the 1950s and 1960s. Imperial rule had earlier ended in India (not technically a colony) in 1947. But well before then Britain had lost most of Ireland (hitherto a part of the UK rather than a colony) in 1921 and the United States in 1783, also granting effective independence in the interim to the white settlers of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Long before the creation of Great Britain, England had lost lands in Normandy (1204 and 1450) and Gascony (1451-53), as well as its brief domination of Scotland (1314).

Colony that disappeared?

The Roanoke Island Colony mysteriously disappeared. John White, the governor of the Roanoke Island colony, returned from a supply trip to England to find the colony deserted. There were no signs of violence, but he could find no sign of the 100 colonists he had left behind, including his daughter and granddaughter. Roanoke Island Colony was the first English colony established in the New World.

Did Bulgaria have colonies during World War 1?

i do not think so... the great powers from Western Europe had colonies (like France, England, Holland and so on).. i think a country must be a naval power and also to have a strong army to be able to have colonies, which Bulgaria was not. And the run for colonies started much earlier before Bulgaria was independent (1878) my opinion: Bulgaria did not have colonies
