In London.....

Over 1 million houses were destroyed or damaged and around 20,000 people were killed. London was left in absolute devastation and there was lots to repair.

However, WWII also affected many other aspects of life around the globe, and the repercussions are still felt today. For example, the close of WWII launched both American and the Soviet Union as world superpowers. It left at least 90,000 dead in Hiroshima and 60,000 in Nagasaki (some historians estimate these figures as high as 166,000 and 80,000 respectively). It divided Germany into four "zones of occupation" by the victorious Allies.

And who has not heard of the Holocaust, or Hitler, or Nazism? These are all things that will never be forgotten.
