Firearms may contain cams and levers, but the firearm itself is not considered a pulley.
With an impact gun.
Impact gun/wrench and a puller
Well!? I am just going through the hell with this problem. Pulley is made out of plastic compound - bakelit. You will have to remove a drive shaft in order to take a pump with the pulley out. You need a special pulley remover to do the job for you - on your work bench. Another option is braking the old pulley and chipping the pieces out. Mounting a new pulley is a another issue. You will need a compressor and a pneumatic gun to mount a new pulley on the shaft of the PS pump.
Remove anything that may obstruct pulley (belt, wheel, etc.). Your best bet is to use an impact gun to remove bolt in center of pulley (turn counter-clockwise and use safety goggles). After loosening bolt you need to use a harmonic puller to get pulley off crankshaft (do not use impact gun on puller). Tip: Unthread bolt about 1/4 inch from crank pulley then use puller, loosen puller and remove crank bolt a few more turns off crankshaft, then use puller again to slide crank pulley off crank again, keep repeating until it is off.
try an impact gun, or rest a breaker bar against the body or something and use the starter
1/2" drive impact gun pneumatic or electric, counterclockwise motion.
There is a crankshaft pulley, alternator pulley, power steering pump pulley, AC pulley, idler pulley, tensioner pulley, etc.
im looking for the actual degree myself. all you need to do is to loosen the slider bolt on the distributor (having a timing gun of course). with the car on and the bolt loose. aim the gun at the crank pulley (there should be number on the pulley). trigger the gun and point it at the crank pulley. the light will flash on and off. (this just means that it flashes everytime cylinder 1 fires). move the distributor either up or down till the number you want shown on the crank appears. once you see the number consistently then you've got it. lock the bolt. done deal. enjoy!!
a coumpound pulley is when there is a fixe pulley and movable pulley working together

Connect the positive and negative cables on the timing gun to the corresponding posts on the battery (will be marked with + and - signs) connect the sensor on the timing gun to plug wire #1. any where on the wire will do, it is just an external clamp that will read through the cable's sheathing. First locate three sequential marks on the crank pulley (found on the front of the block.) you will also see a pointed tab hanging over the crank pulley. Point your timing gun at the tab and pull while the car is running (let the engine reach proper temperature before timing) The middle of the three marks on the crank pulley should line up with the pointed tab every time the light flashes.
