The end of the war set the stage for WW2. It took 20 years between the wars, but the political actions after WW1 made it possible . Germany was forced to pay reparations to the allies and to disband their military. The reparations caused hardship for the Germans in the long run and inflation hit the German population hard. Jobs became less and less, food was expensive, and the money value was bad. Within a few years the German people were ready for a change in government and this is when Hitler ran for office calling on the country to stop paying reparations and to have a military. He was able to gain office and by 1932 he had taken over the government by creating an event that he blamed on "communist ". Secretly he reformed the military and the German people felt empowered by his actions, huge rallies were held, the Jewish community was forced to register and be identified by wearing yellow stars of David, and they lost businesses, were removed from schools and professional positions. Finally they were sectioned off and locked into ghettos. When the "final solution " was put into action the Jewish community was rounded up and shipped to concentration camps where people were gassed and the bodies cremated. Over 6 million people were murdered. Hitler invaded Poland in 1939 and began WW2 that killed millions and cost the world 5 years of war. All of this was the result of WW1 political actions that created the foundation for Hitler and WW2. This is one reason it is so important that we understand and know history so we don't repeat the mistakes of the past and that we pay attention to what our politicians do and say.
