The red-shanked douc langur's are practically extinct. They are sold in Vietnam illegally, however almost everybody who tries to keep them as pets kills them in a very short time period. Ingestion of any sort of human food leads to death. So basically, no you can not legally have them as a pet. No way Josee.

The Grey Langur
The population for Douc Langurs is declining. In the last 30 years the population has declined by 50 - 80% and it is estimates it is going to continue to decline for the next 30 - 36 years. There are 500 - 700 individuals left of grey shanked douc langurs and some people think that douc langurs are on the brink of extinction whilst some other people think that douc langurs can be saved from extinction. Scientists also beleive that they may have found some new colonies of douc langurs in a area which they have not surveyed yet. douc langurs are in the 25 most endangered species. Whilst grey douc langurs are critically endangered red and black shanked douc langurs are just endangered although I think that they are on there way up the endangerment chart. Generally the population trend of the douc langurs is declining like most of the species on this planet...
