Take a cloth tape measurer and start at the middle of the horse's chest. Having a second person to help makes it easier. While holding the tape at the center of the chest run it around the side (horizontally) and behind the rump stopping under the tail. Then add 4 inches to the measured distance and you should have a good idea of your horse's size. But keep in mind that different brands of blankets may fit differently. There is usually a return policy for blankets as long as they are clean and put back in the original package. So if you don't get a good fit the first time you should not have a problem with exchanges or returns.
Horse rugs function the same way for horses that clothes function for humans. Because horses are warm blooded, they are affected by the climate. If it is too cold for the horse, a horse blanket will be put on the horse to keep it comfortable and to prevent it from getting sick.
A special horse rug that is waterproof and specially designed to keep the horse from getting muddy and wet in the field.
For my horse i put rug on it all year round as it is old and clipped. If you have a horse that has a thick coat then it would be ok in the wind although it would be a good idea to put a thin rug on during the rain. Also when it is extremely cold then you need a good thick rug to stop the animal from getting cold. It is quite obvious for a horse that is clipped - rugs on for cold days and when its very cold then put a thick rug or rugs on. If you have a choice of what time of year then it would be winter and other cold mnths but generally just the days that is cold and wet. Hope i gave u an idea..x
It depends on what your horse is like;if your horse if fully rugged in winter, most people would put a light weight summer rug/sheet on.it just keeps the sun off them and the flies.I personally of put a fly rug on my horse in the summer and he in fully rugged over winter, he is also dark bay.If you are still stuck, ask somebody at your local equestrian shop for some advice or if you are at livery, then ask someobdy on the yard.winter
This depends. If he is used to this weather and has a nice, long and thick coat, he should be fine. You should always have some form of shelter in his paddock You can rug him if you wish, but it is not necessary. Think - what conditions would he be in in the wild? If your horse is clipped, or has a fine coat, you should provide him with a rug and definitely shelter.
If a horse has worn a horse rug while being ridden, the rug should be lifted and removed and the horse should be brushed where the horse rug was worn. The rug should be place on something that would allow it to get good ventilation to air dry.
you would probably have to get the biggest size there is like 7`0 or 6`0 they are cob sizes for the rug
A cooler horse rug cools down a horse when it gets hot and sweaty.
There is no precise way to fold a horse rug it just needs to be clean and dry.
you would put a rug on a horse during cold, windy or wet weather or when the horse is sweaty/wet or being bothered by flies. you would put a stable rug on a stabled horse when it's cold, sweat rug on a wet/sweaty horse, a new zealand rug on a horse turned out at grass when it's wet/windy/cold and a summer/fly sheet on a horse being bothered by flies.

The word rug usually means turnout rug which is a waterproof, durable blanket for the horse to wear outside in bad weather. Depending on what region you live in fall through early spring is rug season.
It needs to fit correctly, neither too big nor too small. If the blanket doesn't fit, it will rub the horse wrong and cause him pain, and if it rubs in the wrong place, you may not be able to ride him for a while. And if it rubs a place raw, that leaves it open for infection. So, get only a rug that fits your horse exactly.
You usually put a fleece rug on a horse when you put them outside in the winter. Most horses wont need a winter rug because they grow a thick coat but if it's REALLY cold or your horse is clipped then you will need one.
Please try and tell me what type of horse! Anyway, Thoroughbreds need a rug all year round, a smaller rug in spring and summer, middle rug in Autumn and a large rug, maybe with a duvet in Winter. It all depends on the waether and temperature. Whether the horse is thin, fat, expecting a foal or not...
All seasons, you can get different types of rugs. autumn and winter are the most crucial to have a horse rug to keep them warm/dry. IDIOT.
The chairs and the table should seat on the rug . That means the rug should be 4 times the area of the table.
