# The horse is reluctant (anorexia) or refuses to eat; # The horse may look at their sides, or turn and nip at their sides; # The horse may kick at their abdomen with their back legs, paw with their forelegs, or stomp their feet; # The horse appears to be stretching out abnormally when defecating or is straining to pass a bowel movement; # The horse lies down and begins rolling and thrashing violently and does not shake after; # The horse is excessively sweaty after light exercise; # The horse shows excessive lip curling;

# The horse has cool extremities (e.g lips might feel cool to the touch on inside of the mouth); # Lack of bowel movements, as evidenced by the small number of manure piles (however, bowel movement is evident in some more severe cases); # Along with these other symptoms the horse's pulse (greater than 52 beats per minute) and respiratory rate may increase (NOTE: the horse's temperature usually shouldn't increase with colic. If a horse is experiencing abdominal pain and also has a fever, seek a veterinarian's help immediately, as this is often an indication of an infection and may also be an indication of peritonitis). If this horse is doing any of the following: * Rolling frantically and kicking at belly as if trying to escape pain (could mean colic) * Not putting weight on a certain foot (could be lame) * leaning all weight on hind feet (could mean founder- this is an emergency!!!) * hot feet near cornet band (again, founder) * hot legs (ligament or tendon strain, or just slight bruise) * Not eating hay or grain, looking depressed, refusing treats (horse is either sleeping, really sick, or in unfamiliar surroundings) * bleeding * is very skinny with poor coat condition

Signs of an unhealthy horse include:

Weight Loss

Not eating or drinking

Lameness

Coughing

Mucus coming from muzzle/nostrils (After working out if you see mucus that's normal)

Mood swings

Eye boogers

You should know them when you see them. You should check your horse over on a daily basis to make sure nothing is bothering them.

Clinical signs of toxicosis include salivation, sweating, ataxia, and signs of pain. Additionally, at 24 hours after propylene glycol ingestion, the horse becomes increasingly atactic, has an abnormal breath odor, develops rapid shallow breathing, and is cyanotic. The horse may die of respiratory arrest 28 hours after the propylene glycol ingestion.

The "signs" that people often say indicate that a horse has worms are not really accurate. Because these signs can also be caused by a multitude of common issues such as poor diet and horses will always have some sort of parasite load unless they have been dewormed within a couple of weeks previously, looking for outwards symtpoms to determine that a horse has worms is not recommended.

Instead, parasitism is diagnosed via fecal egg counts.

It looks like a alive cat sleeping.ADD:A poisoned cat will look a little less than just a sleeping cat. A cat that has ingested poison will very likely have foamed at the mouth constantly.
