A snook is a Saltwater Fish which are plentiful here in Florida waters. Some people consider them to be a gamefish but most REAL Floridians consider them to be one of the best food fishes around. There IS an open and closed season and size and quantity limits on snook. They generally grow to a maximum length of over two feet. They have a long lower jaw and a black stripe near the top on both sides which extends almost to the tail.
Google it. I'm sure there will be a photo.

This gender change typically occurs as they grow larger and reach a certain age, allowing them to maximize their reproductive success. The transition is influenced by environmental factors and population dynamics, such as the ratio of males to females in their habitat.
