well im not entierly sure but i know that when female hamsters have not been mated they go through a period in their life when their prvates swell and many othher side affects may be included, commonly very moody during this time.

She may be trying to hibernate. Hamsters are not allowed to hibernate. They are nocturnal creatures, so they love the dark. But she might just be storing food, to eat later my hamster does that, but puts it in her bedding! aww :D
