Its the length of sentence that defines when the conviction is spent not the crime. If the sentence was for two and a half years or more it is never spent and always has to be declared. I think you can. I knew someone in the military who spent a lot of time in Vietnam and in the Philipines. He said that a lot of the service men would marry the girls over there and bring them back to the States. That was over 10 years ago though. I'd check with some one though. Maybe immigration.

I would expect that it would. As with so many things now while it may not disqualify you directly, why hire someone with a conviction when there are so many applicants without a conviction. Add to that the fact that this could be seen as a morals issue and your chances become less and less.
