They definitely can theres many ways too be with your partner: texting, phone calls, email, instant messaging, webcam and even occasional visits. it works if both people want it to work and you have to trust there not flirting behind your back. Many people who relationships are short distance flirt behind the others back and cheat anyway and if your soulmate happens to live far away then you can make it work if you truly love them
