Depending on how novice you can go after the waterpump, if you have other transportation. The Astro has a timing chain, and I wouldn't replace it as a maintenance item, you'll be getting over your head if your not careful.
The PCM (Power Control Module) is located under the passengers side kick panel in a 1995 astro. REPLACEMENT: Novice CAUTIONS: * You MUST disconnect the battery to replace this unit
replace timing chain
The Chevrolet Astro has a chain not a belt.
It should be listed on a sticker near the fan shroud. My 1995 astro is supposed to be set at 0 degrees below top dead center. use a timing light to adjust the distributor accordingly. .
It should be at the bottom front of the engine by the timing cover.
I contacted the Chevy Dealer and he informed me that the Chevy astro van has a timing "chain", not a timing belt and requires no maintanence action for this item.
That would have a timing chain.
i have a 2003 chev astro van and need to replace the blower fan
Requires removal of: Fan shroud, serpentine belt, fan, water pump, timing cover, crank pulley(s). Requires crank pulley puller/installer tools. Requires timing gear puller to remove crank gear. Replace chain and gears together. Replace with all-metal gears, not composite sets. On this vehicle it is recommended to replace the timing cover each time it is removed.
Set it at zero degrees. The computer compensates it.
