If your rotors are worn you should replace those as well. Worn, warped, or glazed rotors will reduce the effectiveness of your brake pads and possible wear them down faster. As far as the possibility of doing so, sure but it's not recommended. Just to add a comment, depending on the rotor thickness, the rotor surface should be machined to remove the glaze or warpage before installing new pads. Machining of a rotor surface reduces the thickness. If a rotor surface has previously been machined the rotor may need to be replaced.
When rotors need to be changed usually the pads have worn down. It is always a good idea to change pads when changing rotors.
worn pads change your brake pads and get your rotors machined while your at it
Its a good idea to change the pads because the old ones may have worn unevenly. That may cause future damage to the braking system. If you just need to get by then its ok to used the old pads but most of the time the rotors cost more then the brake pads. I WOULD CHANGE THE PADS.
depends on the condition od the pads. If worn or have groves etc from the rotors then replace.
Most probably due to worn rotors/pads.
The brake rotors only need to be changed if they are worn beyond allowable specifications and should be changed in pairs. They do not need to be changed with the pads unless they are damaged as above or warped.
they will ruin your rotors for one and you could also have brake failure do not neglect them
Brakes fading is usually a sign of overheating or worn pads. The brake pads need to make good contact with the rotors to have stopping ability. Check the pads for wear, and the rotors for bluing or grooves worn in them.
When they are about 3/4 worn before scoring and damage to rotors occurs
The brake pads are probably worn. If not repaired, then the metal backer of the brake pads can cut into and damage the brake rotors. Noise is a sign to check the brakes as soon as possible.
brake pads are worn to the metal rivets. You will need to replace pads and rotors. rotors are $35 each and pads are $29-59 for both left and right side.
From a rotor spec sheet, find the minimum thickness, from there take about a micrometer and measure. If it is below the minimum then you need to change your brake rotors. Rotors do not generally need to be replaced unless there has been extensive damage to them from driving on extremely worn down break pads. If you waited too long to change your break pads then you may want to consider replacing them. If not, you don’t need to worry about it.
