Only in certain parts of certain countries. Different countries and states use different chemicals to purify water, so ask your local petstore if your area's water safe. Here in South Africa we can use tap water for animals, since the water is only purified with semi-harmless chemicals. But this answer will be region-specific.

If you are talking about salwater fish then, the water should be salty.

And if you are talking about fresh-water fish then you should probably use the tep water which is fresh.

You also need a water conditioner that you buy at the pet store or someplace like Wal-Mart. It removes harmful chlorine and chloramines. Without this conditioner the fish will die. For salt water aquariums, you can buy ocean salts at the pet store that you add to fresh water. Do not use regular table salt.

Yes, but you must use a water conditioner to remove any chlorine, or chloramides prior to putting water into your tank.

Yes, but you need to use a special chemical that detoxifies the tapwater first. They are usually called water conditioners, and can be found online at www.bigalsonline.com

How do you clean a fish bowl?

First get a bucket of water, and put the same volume as is in the bowl in the bucket. Let the bucket sit over night, and put water conditioner in it. Net the fish out of the bowl, and put it in the bucket with the new water. Rinse the bowl out, and sponge the inside to remove any algae. Clean, and put back the gravel and ornaments. Pour the water and fish back into the clean bowl. DONT USE SOAP.

How do you clean a circular fish bowl?

This is for betta fish but you can use it for other fish too but why would you keep a fish in a bowl tha's not a betta? Betta are the only fish that can stay in a bowl: When you first get the fish clean out the bowl (make sure there's no dust or anything). How to clean the bowl the first time: At the first time you need completely new water for the fish. Wipe the bowl and make sure it doesn't have dust, residue, or anything dirty make it super clean and shiny. You'll need to put warmish water into the bowl and add water cleaner so it doesn't harm the fish. You can buy water cleaner from your local pet store (the one you got the fish from). And your bowl is ready to go. Second time cleaning the bowl: Make sure you have a container to put your fish in when you clean the water. It has to be big enough so your fish can swim in it. Now you take just a little bit of the old water and keep it for the bowl after. Okay, now you take the fish out with a net and put it in a container with water in it. Now you take out the extra water in the bowl that has poop in it and stuff and put it down the sink or something. Then you clean the bowl if you have to and add water wih water cleaner into the bowl. Also leave some room for the old water from the bowl before it was cleaned so the betta doesn't get shocked or anything from the water change. Then, add water cleaner to the bowl again. Now take your fish out of the container with the net and put your fish back to where he was. That's about it. And also after a few weeks change ALL of the water and keep it warmish. If you change the water temperature to cold right away he'll go into shock for the change of temperature! hope I helped :)

How much water do you put in a fish bowl?

a gallon

Should you use distilled spring or drinking water in a fish bowl?

While I don't believe in keeping fish in a bowl you should never use distilled water to keep fish in. It will kill them eventually. Tap water is perfect for most fish once the chlorine has been removed/evaporated off. You can do this by simply leaving the water in a bucket overnight. I refuse to waste money on water conditioners.

How can you clean clody water in a fish tank?

if you just bought the fish let the water in the bowl sit out for about 24hours before putting it in. But make sure that your water has no chlorine in it. NO tap water. If you use tap water you have to get water cleaning drops for the tank.

How times a day do you change a fish bowl?

You should use your fish bowl as a vase for flower arangements. In their ignorance people used fish bowls in the 1800 s for keeping fish in. With todays more enlightnened and better educated people, there is no justifyable excuse for anyone being so cruel to fish anymore. There is a basic rule for keeping fish that all successfull aquarists use. That rule is "1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water". I can assure you that if you confine a fish in a "Fish Bowl" it will not live long. If you insist on keeping a fish in a bowl then you should change its water at least 3 times a day. The reason for this is that poisons will build up in the water because the fish poos and breathes in there and the product of this is Ammonia which is deadly poisonous to all living things.
