However, one of the soldiers mistakenly heard the Captain say Fire! when he arrived and he started firing. A couple other soldiers joined in shooting until they were stopped shortly after. Five Bostinians were down on the ground. Three were wounded and two were killed. This was considered an outrage in the colonies. A trial was to be held, but no one wanted to represent the British soldiers. Two lawyers stepped up because they felt that these people desereved a chance. These lawyers were Samuel Adams and John Adams. In the end, the soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter and not murder.
