These events support Argentina's claim to their 'slice' of the Antarctic Peninsula. In the late 1990s -- the last date for which these statistics are available, there was a total permanent population at Esperanza of 165 persons.

Elsewhere on the continent, there are no families.

I think you've got things a bit upside-down: Antarctica is at the south pole of the earth, the Arctic is at the north pole. The Inuit have never lived in Antarctica, but they do continue to live in the Arctic, in Canada's northern territories.
