NO you do not.
That is what the o-ring is for. If you use sealer it will wind up in the oil and that is Not good.
First clean off any remaining gasket residue so that both mating surfaces are clean and smooth. Then put the new gasket in place, with gasket sealer as indicated. Put the two parts together with their bolts and torque to specifications.
the location of the thermostat is under the throttle body.before you put it back on you need to buy some gasket sealer or a gasket for the thermostat
intake gasket , head gasket, crack in block .one of the 3 Also check to see if your engine has an oil cooler with lines that run into the radiator. If so then a hairline crack can develop in the oil cooler inside your radiator and leak water into your oil via the cooler lines at the oil filter. I have a C2500 with heavy duty options and this seems to be one of them. Good Luck.

head gasket is blown
There is no need for sealer, Very bad place to use it, It will get into the oil system and stop something up. NOT GOOD You need or should have gotten a gasket and o-ring Kit when you had it apart. ONCE AGAIN NO NEED FOR SEALER NOT REQUIRED

You will need to raise the engine enough to clear the frame "cross-member". That means you need to disconnect the motor mounts and probably use an engine lift. Once you have about 6 inches of extra clearance you just remove the bolts that are around the perimeter of the pan, clean all of the surfaces, use a slow setting automotive gasket sealer to seat the new gaskets then put it all back together. The slow setting gasket sealer gives you time to reassemble without being rushed.
