pads
If it is a Toyota, they do not know how to fix the squeaking brakes either. Even after replacing all the pads and machining the rotors and rear drums
As long as your rotors are not warped, or you have not let the brake pads wear to the point they defaced the rotors, there is no need to change them. Just install new brake pads. Rotors can last the life of the car.
Front or rear? discs or drum? rotors or drums turned(resurfaced)or not? Many times when you just replace pads without resurfacing rotors will tend to be noisy and sometimes overheat causing warpage, pedal will pulsate upon application.Good luck
No just the bad one.
You can buy just one.
Brake rotors wear just as brake pads do and when they wear down beyond minimum specs they become unsafe. Good brakes are a # 1 priority.
take the wheels off, unbolt the brake calipers and the pull them off and now you can just pull the rotors off.
after you get the front end jacked up, make sure its secure to be safe. the wheels come off, then you take the brake caliper off, brake pads will come off with it, then the rotors just slide right off,, when you put the brake calipers back on you will have to push the caliper in using a c clamp in order to get the brake pads back over the new rotor
WELL, I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SUV AND I JUST HAD MY FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND IT COST ME 325.00. If you do it your self it is about 140.00
Ok, this is real simple. Jack the car up. Take off the tires. Ok you will see the brake caliper. It's the big peice that hold on the brake pads. Unbolt the two bolts that hold on the caliper. Once off the Rotor should slide off. For the rear Rotors. This maybe the hardest part. Most people just replace the front and ignore the back. The back drums, should just slide off. But in most cases you have to beat them off, due to rust. Not really a good way to get the back ones off once they are stuck on. just take a crow bar or a pry bar a wedge it in and beat it off. Back drums for an 88 Honda civic is like 12 bucks at autozone. So beat away if they are hard to get off.
When the mechanic replaced your pads and rotors, he did not put them back the right way. You need to take the car back to the shop and make him fix them.
NO. The rotors will rust overnight if the conditions are right. The rust will be removed the first time the brakes are applied. Yes if the rust has pitted them. Just have them turned on a brake lathe.
