It can if it is stuck closed the engine overheats causing hot air ( steam ) to flow backwards to radiator cap which releases and blows steam pressure into recovery reservoir which starts blowing out the coolant in the reservoir making a puddle on ground.
A faulty thermostat in a 2001 BMW 325CI can cause a coolant leak. The coolant may be leaking out a crack in the thermostat or through a warped edge. In some cases the problem may be just a bad gasket and not actually a problem with the thermostat at all.
timing is wrong, coolant leak, bad radiator or thermostat, head gasket....
Leaking hose? Defective thermostat housing or bad thermostat gasket? Bad water pump or gasket? Leak in radiator? Leak at heater core? Leak at head gasket? Coolant recovery tank?
your temp guage will sky rocket if its bad, you may even have coolant a coolant leak (comming out of the the housing of the thermostat). replacing it is easy and cheap.
No.
No.
Steam? Leak? overheating due to low coolant? Back pressure due to a bad thermostat? Defective radiator cap? have system pressure tested to determine location of leak
what is the question? why it would overheat???? if so: because -thermostat is stuck closed -or no coolant -or head gasket leak -or coolant system leak -or bad water pump -or clog in coolant system -or ......
Defective cap? Bad thermostat building excessive pressure
No it probably means you have a leak some where. Try pressurizing your system to find the leak.
only if the gasket under thermostat is leaking and may-be it's the hose clamp on the hose that is leaking
Bad thermostat, Low on engine coolant--( coolant leak ) Cracked head, Leaking head gasket,
