Ozone kills everything living. It also destroys the lignins in wood, the "soft" polymers used in carpet backing, mattress padding, and destroys colors and dyes (starting with blue and heading for red last). So it is a beast best applied sparingly, and with foreknowledge of applied doses that are effective. It has some difficulty killing colony-forming organisms, and with organisms that have developed "slime formation" as a survival characteristic. As with ethylene oxide for sterilization, humidity and heat history prior to applying the steriliant (such as ozone) is important in limiting the amount and duration of sterilant required for kill.

Does cold kill mold?

Cold does not kill mold. Certain temperatures can stop the growth of mold, but not kill it.

Does ozone kill produce?

No, ozone will not kill produce. Ozone is commonly used in food storage applications to prolong the shelf life of produce by killing bacteria and mold that will shorten the shelf life. Also, ozone will break down natural levels of Ethelyne from the fruit and slow the ripening process. However, it is important to maintain a safe level of ozone and this will vary with produce to not negatively affect the produce. Ozone levels should always be below 0.5 ppm, and usually below 0.08 ppm, the OSHA level for human safety.

How do you remove mold smell from velvet clothing?

If your problem is just a lingering mold smell (and spores that are trapped in the fabric) then I would suggest using an ozone generator or finding a dry cleaner that uses ozone for such things.Ozone is going to break down the mold smell, but it is also going to destroy the mold spores which prevents them from turning into active mold growth in the future. You can rent ozone generators... looks like the top google result for "ozone generator rental" eventually leads here: http://www.ozonesolutions.comIf instead you already do have mold actively growing on the cloth (might be worth a close inspection) then you will almost certainly need to have a professional look at it.

Does pH kill bacteria in swimming pool water?

Yes. The lower the pH, the fewer bacteria that can live in the water. That is also how soft drinks work. Unlike milk, a bottle of pop does not go bad in your refrigerator. That bottle is filled with a weak acid. Occasionally, it will get mold on top, but it never gets bacteria. Occasionally people's ears get mold from swimming pools. Mold can live at a lower pH than bacteria. Thus, people should dry out their ears after swimming. Chlorine also produces monatomic oxygen. That also kills bacteria. A lower pH can hurt someone's eyes. Ozone can also kill bacteria. Ozone in air will kill people long before it kills bacteria. In water, it will kill bacteria. When the ozone is dissolved in water, it kills bacteria. It would kill people long before it killed bacteria except that people do not breathe water. It stays in the water and does not get into the air.

Does ozone kill bananas?
