The ASPCA, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is an organization that has a mission making the world a better place for animals. It is particularly involved concerning animals that are pets or are wild animals being held in captivity.

Here is a description of the organization as given on its website: "The ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. Our mission, as stated by our founder, Henry Bergh, in 1866, is 'to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.'"

What they do is if someone sees another person abusing their pet they will call them. Then they will come, take the pet away and sue the owner. If you know someone who does this call the ASPCA and tell them what the persons name is, what kind of animal it is, where the abuse is happening, and your name. Please call if you do see an animal being abused it could save the life of a poor defenseless animal. it needs your help

Why is the rspca needed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The RSPCA, like so many other charities, rely solely on public donations because the Government does not offer funds to them. The money raised goes towards all sorts of publicity campaigns, staff training, paying staff, and for the facilities needed to house abandoned or otherwise abused animals. The link below goes directly to the relevant page on the official RSPCA websie, which you may find useful.

What do they feed the animals at the SPCA?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The SPCA does its best to feed their animals only premium brand cat and dog food however the specific brand of food changes, and can also vary from shelter to shelter. Some shelters are sponsored by a brand and they get some of their food donated to them by those companies. I believe the SPCA also accepts donations of dog and cat food from individuals however if you are interested in donating food the an animal shelter I recommend you ask the shelter about what brand of food they would like you to buy.
