Scientific Method

Parent Category: Science Experiments
The scientific method is the basis of scientific investigation. A scientist will pose a question and formulate a hypothesis as a potential explanation or answer to the question. The hypothesis will be tested through a series of experiments. The results of the experiments will either prove or disprove the hypothesis. This category should contain questions and answers regarding the scientific method.
rocks: igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks ect.................
Yes, but remember: it's okay to be wrong!
Scientific method is described as a scientific approach to a problem. To solve a problem you must first find the problem, access it, hypothesize a solution, illustrate your solution, try the solution, and then finally try it. If this does not work start over.
Yes! Not many people know this, but it actually can. I had tons of fruits + a potato in my science project, which was to see what would produce the most electricity. My hypothesis, was of course, a lemon, but I came to see that somehow, the pear was higher than everything else, even the potato! With...
1. generates/gives new information about an event or phenomena. 2. produces new material3. solves an existing community problems.
areas of rising air and low pressure. When air rises it cools, and the moisture it contains condenses out as clouds, which eventually produce precipitation.
It is not possible to draw a structural formula in the Answers text editor.
This is a fairly easy experiment to set up, provided you can get round the fact that people can be put off if food doesn't look the way they expect. You would need to use something like a pate or custard type pudding. You can colour these without changing the taste, then ask people to rate...
The chemistry behind even the most simplistic of experiments can baffle most, such as the bubbling as a result of salt being added to soda. Soda itself is already "bubbly" due to its carbonation, but add a dash of salt and it bubbles even more violently than on its own. This bubbling effect...
it helps in bringing to a conclucion whether we are right or wrong

The scientific method is a series of steps taken to answer a question (usually used for scientific experiments). The steps basically are: 1) ask a question 2) Do research on the subject 3) State your hypothesis (educated guess of what you think will happen) 4) Test hypothesis with an experiment ...
something that a person thinks that is true that other people question
An idea like that is in a scenario when research on the idea can prove it right or wrong.
How much sugar, how much water, how warm is "warm", are you stirring it or not, is the sugar powdered, in the form of small crystals, in the form of rock candy ... there are so many variables that it is impossible to give an answer to a question this vague. However, even if you had...
The melting point is the temperature at the solid and liquid states of the material are in equilibrium; if the temperature is even very slightly above the melting point, the material will melt, and if it's even very slightly below, the material will freeze. Technically the melting...
1. Purposing-students decide what particular learning task to accomplish with the teacher allowing them to decide on thier own. 2. Planning- 3. Demonstration Proper 4. Executing 5. Evaluating
The outcomes must be repeatable because if the outcome keeps changing, then something must have changed during one of the experiments, giving you the different outcome.
I have an ongoing issue with my bladder or uninary track. The bestway to describe it at first was that I was getting performanceanxiety while having to urinate in a public restroom or leaving aurine sample while being filmed at my methadone clinic twice aweek. I had no problem doing this for a long...
The Scientific Method was designed to gather, test, and explain information.
No To form a hypothesis is an attempt to explain something just by your own thought (could be anything, but typically an observation, phenomenon, or some other scientific problem). To be a "valid hypothesis" the hypothesis should be testable (typically through empiric investigation) ... and it...

the balloon would float because the helium inside the balloon would pull it up, but if you had a weight or hand on the bottom, the weight or hand would keep the balloon from rising away. ***** Also, helium is lighter and less dense than air and will float upwards.
It is true that certain anatomical structures change in size according to use, but these changes cannot be passed on to the organism's offspring
You don't need to prove much - just look at the definition of a vector. A vector includes a magnitude (in this case the force), and a direction. Since weight (or "the force of gravity") is directed to a certain direction, namely downward, you can consider it a vector.\n You don't need to prove much...
sampling theorem is used to know about sample signal.
Well if you turn around three time and then say i like watermelons that is your answer
Scientists write a conclusion after an experiment. The conclusionwill summarize the details of the experiment, and whether or notthe hypothesis tested was correct. A scientific paper published in a peer-reviewed journal is wherethe rationale, methods and materials, results and conclusions for...

There are only four steps. Those steps are:1. http://www.answers.com/topic/scientific-method#Characterizations: Consider the problem and try to make sense of it. Look for previous explanations. If this is a new problem to you, then move to step 2.2. http://www.answers.com/topic/scientific-method...
The scientific method involves making a hypothesis, testing it and evaluating whether the original idea was correct or altering it if necessary. A religion is a system of beliefs normally centering around a deity or deities of some kind. The two are almost entirely different in every aspect.
It depends on the length of your four fragments. If the 4 fragments are same in length, you can not distinguis the band on the gel as all the (4x500) molecules run at the same length. If they are different in size let say 100,200,300,400 you can see four distinct bands. The intensity of the bands...

They allow you to determine possible outcomes without having to set up large and costly experiments. In the pharmaceutical industry for example they use animal tissue models to test drugs on to give them some idea what the drug will do to people before they set up actual clinical trials costing...
A shadow is only an absence of light. so depending on where you shine them is that there will be multiple shadows or no shadows at all
It is used to avoid common problems that occur in the absence of using the scientific method.
Yes. A hypothesis or theory allows you to predict what you might observe scientifically. Sometimes your theory is wrong. It must be tested. Some of mine have been way off.

Wafting method is used in scientific experiments to avoid inhaling the chemical.
It is due to density(the ratio of mass to volume). If the objects density is greater than the liquid, then it will sink. If it is less then it will float
a railway track has a little distance maintained between the two rails, this is so 'cause during summer they expand and if they don't have distance maintained they bulge causing train accidents and during winter they contract causing the rails to snap
There are many ways you could state a conclusion. Many people start concluding paragraphs with the sentence starter "In conclusion".
Copepods are a subclass of crustaceans called Copepoda in the class Maxillopoda. There are several orders, each with several genera, each with several species. Just to provide one example out of many species, there is a freshwater copepod found only in the US called Aglaodiaptomus...

Whole learning allows you to practice the skill as you would see it done properly. so you can see how it is done and endeavor to copy it. Whole learning also means you only have to practice one thing rather then many.
salts can be classified on the basisi of there taste, odour , physical apperance ,ie their color etc , and functional group present in them .
No. An ash fall is not a volcano; it is a product of some volcanic erputions.
The boiling point of fluorine (F) is -188.12 degrees Celsius (-306.62 F). The boiling point of carbon (C) in the form of a diamond is about 4027 degrees Celsius (7281 F). This value will vary depending on how the carbon is formed.

I assume you mean within psychology? Some disadvantages of the scientific method are; It lacks ecological validity. Uses quantitative data rather than qualitative data. (however this is also a strength in some ways) Demand characteristics, and unrepresentative samples. Hope this helps at least a...
The official way is the If...then...because format. If we pour the vinegar into the baking soda, then the solution with bubble and fizz, because the chemical reaction releases gasses.
Hypothesis means an educated guess about the outcome of an experiment. For example, if you were to perform an experiment about how fast water boils depending on different temperatures your hypothesis may be "the higher the temperature used, the faster the water will boil"

It would be difficult, if not impossible since we don't know for sure if there are ghosts. That said, here are some things to try: 1. Find a house or location alleged to be haunted. As a matter of etiquette, you should avoid studying politically sensitive areas, and you should have permission from...
Yes, in the Scientific Method, the problem / question / observation is the subject of the investigation. Once the question exists, a hypothesis / conjecture can be made, which can be proven or disproven through experimentation.
its a qualitative :) hehehehe
Yes arsenic is used as an alloy along with other numerous elements particularly antimony. When manufactures tried to strengthen bullets by making the grains of lead smaller the bullets ended up deteriorating post the heating and rapid cooling processes, so when they put the alloy into the mixture it...
