The potato contains phosphoric acid, and this acid, when placed between two electrodes (one of copper and one of zinc) will product a small voltage. This is a simple electrochemical cell (a battery). Make several and connect them in series to increase the voltage, and with this setup, an investigator can light a light bulb.
Using several potatoes and strips of zinc and copper, make the cells. Copper wire and galvanized nails (which are coated with zinc) will make good electrodes. There are a number of sites on the web to review how it's done. YouTube even posts some good short vids on these handy science projects.
a potato contains citric acid that can be used as an electrolyte, then you can add zinc and copper and it might give you enough energy to power a light bulb
I think its the starch in them that does that.
Yes a potato can make electricity
Yes You Can
You wouldn't use a potato to screw in a light bulb... if the glass in the light bulb breaks as you're removing it, you can use a potato to take the light bulb out.
i think you mean potato... You can from a potato or super tomato
you cant make a potato light up but...you can make a light bulb light up with potato power.all you need is wire electric tape two potato's or lemons set it up and your good =)
The potato lamp works because the acid in the potato lights up the light bulb.
The best way to remove a blub that has broken off at the base is to use a raw potato. Cut the potato in half and, with the light switch turned off, shove the raw edge of the potato onto the socket. The potato should grip the broken portion of the bulb and allow you to twist the bulb out easily. Replace the bulb as you would normally after making sure all potato residue is removed from the light socket.
yes it can be powered by a potato:)
i would say no because the battery has a lot of energy to pass to the light bulb and not a pataoe
Save your cell battery
theres no such thing as that.
You have to connect one conductor from potato to one terminal on light bulb and the other to the second conductor. Your light bulb must be a low voltage and low current bulb because a potato delivers very little power. Light bulbs that screw in would have one connection point on the screw in part and one at the bottom of the base of the bulb. It would be best to put the bulb in a socket that would allow easier connection of wires instead of trying to wrap the wire around the bulb.
The acid and salt (which is in the juice of a potato) chemical energy that turns intoelectricity.
How to Remove a Broken Light Bulb EasilyFor decades, people have used potatoes to safely and easily remove a broken light bulb. Other methods can increase the risk of sustaining an injury, and using a potato is easy and cost efficient. This video demonstrates how simple it is to remove a light bulb with a potato.3 Simple StepsFirst, take your potato and cut it in half along the short width. Do not cut along the length because you will need enough potato to press down into the bulb socket.Cut side down, press the potato down with a slight twisting motion into the socket, making sure you reach the bottom.Twist the potato with the now-attached light bulb out of the socket like you would a normal light bulb. Now, if you followed these steps, you have safely removed your light bulb and can insert a fresh compact fluorescent light bulb into your light fixture. Using a compact fluorescent light bulb can save you up to 75% electric as opposed to a traditional incandescent bulb, and lasts much longer. Be sure to use a lamp shade to minimize the occurrence of broken light bulbs. Also keep light bulbs away from water. A hot bulb will explode on contact with water. If a light bulb ever does explode, remember never to touch it with your bare hands.
