One could consider the fact that the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 had caused the French to somewhat despise the Germans, which may have been the cause for their Plan 17 having a great concentration of forces being alon the French-German border. Nationalism, at least in this respect, had caused France to lack in seeing the Shlieffen Plan occuring, going through Belgium INSTEAD of France.

How did american nationalism display itself in foreign policy?

American nationalism surged during this time influencing such areas as foreign policy and other issues. John Quincy Adams used his nationalistic idea to sign the Treaty of 1818 with Britain that permitted Americans to share the coveted Newfoundland fisheries with England. It further provided for a ten-year point occupation of the untamed Oregon country. Florida was also a subject of contention during this time. Many revolutions were being carried out in Southern American and Spain was very held up with them. Andrew Jackson saw this as an opportunity to add Florida to the United States. Many people were discontent with this, but nationalist John Quincy Adams believed that taking the offensive was the right course of action. Meanwhile in Europe, the reign of Napoleon showed that democracy could cause major problems. This caused a pro-monarchial time in Europe. Many Americans were afraid that they would come interfere with American affairs. As a result of this, the Monroe Doctrine was drawn up that encouraged isolationism and non intervention.

What did Democratic-Republicans believe in?

Strict interpretation of the Constitution, States Rights, Isolationism, Nationalism, Agrarianism. The Republican party used to be the Whig party. What they believe now is very different from what they believed before. Today the two main parties like to add little rules about what they should and shouldn't oppose, but if you read their manifestos they're really not so different.

How did journalism affect the Holocaust?

In Nazi Germany the genocide was, at least in principle, secret and was officially referred to as Resettlement in Eastern Europe. It was not reported. In Allied countries some reports appeared in the press and on radio. The implication that journalism "affected" the holocaust is odd. Perhaps you could add some context.

How can you create tension in a story?

My recommendation for creating tension in a story, would be to add some sort of mystery that separates two different characters because of how different those two characters' ideas and opinions are. If you feel tension in the story, then your readers are bound to feel it too if you wrote it correctly.
