no one exactly no's why the mayans died. Though there are many theories such as earth quake, volcanic eruption, disease. I am lead to believe it's disease because all the mayans died within a short amount of time.[go with gut] structures:beat down from weather over the many years.

The Mayan Empire was defeated and its culture and religion replaced by that of the conquering Spanish. But the Mayans as a people did not die, they simply continued to live where they had always lived. . Today, there are still millions of Mayan people who live either amongst the other Mexicans , Guatemalans and others in Central America or in all-Mayan communities. The Mayan language is still spoken there and many of the ancient Mayan Arts and Crafts are still practiced.

They poisoned their own water supply by accident. When they sacrificed people, they cut their heads off and threw them into a pool, which became their drinking water. Smart right?
