Some even provide this service for free, but others will charge a small fee. If there is no online search available for your particular location, you can contact either the clerk, recorder, or probate court in the location where the marriage occurred.

It is more likely that divorce records will be online if the court where the divorce was filed is in a major city, but even if not, it is always worth checking!
If you know the state and county where the divorce was handled, finding out whether that county offers divorce records online is relatively simple. Visit the CourtReference related link, pick the appropriate state, and then use the Court Resource Category drop-down menu to select Search Court Case Records. Some states offer statewide court record databases, which will be listed at the top of the results page if they exist in that state. If not, scroll down to the appropriate county, and any online court records search options for that county will be listed.
Some online court records searches may be free and some are fee-based.
If you are unable to find the records you are looking for online, your next best step is to contact the court clerk in the county that handled the divorce. You can also obtain a copy in the United States from the town, city or county clerk in charge of keeping vital records where the marriage was performed.
