Remove the air cleaner and air box. Disconnect hoses and mark them so you know the proper reconnections. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the carburetor to the manifold. Remove the old gasket with a scraper and clean any remaining residue with degreaser. Clean the degreaser off completely. Apply gasket sealant to both sides of the new gasket and apply in place of the old one. Repeat the process in reverse order to place the new carburetor.
You'll never see a carburetor installed from the factory with sealant. It's not necessary, and can cause problems if any of the sealant gets into the intake tract.
How does it run? If it is running rich or lean then the carburetor could be the culprit. If it is original from 1986 I would bet it needs a rebuild.
The 1989 Chevy Caprice 305 V8 does not have a carburetor. It is equipped with Throttle Body Fuel Injection which may look like a carburetor but is not.
You can change your 1986 305 cubic inch pickup engine from a carburetor to fuel injection. The problem with doing so is the cost. It might cost more to do the change than it would to purchase an engine.
no comes stock with a 305
yes I can.
Yes, it will definitely fit.
The base 305 had a 4bbl carburetor
There is no reason you would have to.
The carburetor needs rebuilding including a new float, needle and seat, assuming it has a carburetor.
Yes it will, as long as you are swaping from a 305 to a 305.
carb, cam, intake, headers, heads, msd igntion, or a 350
If both engines have a carburetor on them, THEN NO. They will interchange.
