I should be able to help with this - but unfortunately I'm not quite following the question!! Could you rephrase and draw me a little verbal picture...the wording is confusing me a little. Thanks.
Buy yourself a wireless router. Most people want wireless for their laptops. I find Linksys WRT54G are good routers. If your not technically minded skip the next paragraph - its not essential anyway.
Download a copy of DDWRT and install onto router. Be careful not to brick the router in the process. If you do brick it, don't gve up, look online for de-bricking instructions. In short, this will include opening up the router, finding the Intel chip and shorting two pins (cant remember which ones) and do a timeout ping for the routers default address, when you get a reply presto... router de-bricked and ready for round two.
Now take the ethernet line out the back of the computer and plug it into the router. And then a second ethernet (you get one with the router) from the router to the computer. And now you have internet for your computer, your laptop and your neighbours if you don't password protect it.
If you have a cable connection and you don't have a wireless router you need to get one. When you are purchasing a wireless router make sure that it's compatible with your laptop wireless adapter.
Yes ... it's called Wi-fi, or a wireless connection using a wireless router perhaps.
Your router should have a wireless network. Read the manual for how to enable it and set up a key, then connect to it with your laptop. Or just use a cable like with a desktop.
There is no difference between a laptop or a desktop when setting up a router. You should use an Ethernet cable when setting up your router, and use the wireless only after it's setup.
No, but you are going to need a wireless router, also known as an access point, between the laptop and the cable modem.
Yes, you can.
When you get broadband cable or dsl you should be set up with a modem connected to your computer with an ethernet cable (similar to a phone cable). To make this wireless you need a wireless router (this connects the modem to the computers) and wireless cards (there are different kinds for desktops or laptops) for each wireless desktop or laptop. You can connect your laptop to the Internet with a cable modem, sure. You will need an Ethernet cable to do that. If you want wireless internet, you will need a cable modem, and a wireless router as well.
wireless modem is called that because it has a wirelss router built in. wireless router just a wireless router. if your cable is not wireless you can buy a wireless router or a cable modem with wireless router
If you connect your modem to the router, and then using one of LAN port (router's) connect the PS3 to the router, you will not interfere with wireless signal at all.
You have two basic options. 1.You can connect your laptop to your cable, fibre optic, or DSL modem or Ethernet port using an Ethernet cord. 2. You can connect your cable, fibre optic, or DSL modem or Ethernet port to a wireless router using a Ethernet cable. You then connect your laptop using wireless to your wireless router.
If you wish to use the wireless network card built into your laptop, then yes, you would need a wireless router. Many ISP's provide you with a modem that also acts as a wireless router for your internet service. But if yours doesn't then you would need a wireless router in order to connect without cabling. But if you don't mind running a length of ethernet cable from your modem to your laptop, then you wouldn't need a router.
