You can get E.coli (a bacterial strain) in your urine from a number of ways:
1. If your a woman and you wipe back to front, moves E.coli bacteria from your anus to your urethra which causes an infection commonly known as urinary tract infection (UTI). Always wipe from front to back. Sympotms of a UTI include burning urination, painful urination, urgency (having to go right away as soon as you get the urge), frequency (going to urinate frequently), fever, abdominal pain. You don't need to have any/all symptoms for it to be a UTI. If you have any of the above symptoms, see a physician ASAP.
2. It can also be sexual transmitted. The act of intercourse can push E.coli bacteria into the urethra by friction alone. The bacteria grow and replicate causing an infection. Always empty your bladder BEFORE AND AFTER sex to flush bacteria out of the urinary tract. If you have a shorter urethra you might be prone to developing infections post sex. See your physician for prophylatic treatment options (antibiotics/medications taken after intercourse to prevent UTIs).
3. Lack of hygiene
If you have Ecoli in your urine, it is very important to get treated IMMEDIATELY. UTIs can quickly spread to the kidneys and from there to the blood. An infection in the blood called septicemia will land you in the ICU and in extreme cases has caused death. Not something you should take lightly

E. coli is normally found in the gastrointestinal tract (intestines) of every person. "Catching" E. coli refers to an overgrowth of the bacteria or colonization (growth) of the bacteria where it is not supposed to be. This can occur when objects contaminated with the bacteria make their way into your mouth (dirty hands, someone with dirty hands making food... and by dirty I mean poopy.)
By foods like meat, milk, fruits, and vegetables people eat. So BE CAREFUL!
By eating foods that are infected with the virus such as uncooked meats, milk, some fruits and vegetables, juices, etc.
Well it actually obtains food by digesting air and nutrients in it.
by using most cleaning substances, but mainly disinfectant
E. coli is the most common pathogen for urinary tract infection in women. This bacteria in found in your feces. It spreads by poor personal hygiene.
E coli is a normal part of your bacterial flora. It lives in your colon.

When a product has the Ecoli bacteria and you consume it.
is vancomicyn resistant ecoli contagious
yes.
By not washing your hands thoroughly after touching the guinea pig or any of it's things. Ecoli, if present, is in the feces of the guinea pig. Since it lives in the same bedding as it goes to the bathroom in, it is on the guinea pig and it's house, bowl, etc. When you touch these things it gets on your hands and possibly your clothing. By not keeping clean after you handle the guinea pig, you may rub your eyes or eat something. This takes the ecoli bacteria right from your hand into your own body system. Giving you ecoli.
