To see your outside or public IP address, lookup on Google " my ip" and it will tell you the bold numbers. That is the IP your network uses to talk with the outside world.
To see local IP;
Depends on the OS:
Windows 98: Start > Run > type WINIPCFG
Windows XP: Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Right Click > Properties > internet Protocol (IP/TCP) > Properties
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start > Run > Type 'cmd' > Press Enter> ipconfig/all > Press Enter
there is also a console command.
In windows 2000 onwards, click Start --> Run --> CMD.exe
then type "ipconfig" and hit return.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Linux, Ubuntu, etc
Open up a root terminal
Type 'ifconfig'
That will give you the networking stats of the computer.
You can just go on your network connections page and right click on the connection that you have and click status. There you will see your IP address.
Easy way to find your IP address is using an online tool like this: [http://websiteipaddress.com/WhatIsMyIp]
In Windows XP.
Right click on your local area connection Icon, bottom right. (looks like 2 monitors).
Select 'Status' (left click)
Click on the tab for 'Support' at the top of the window that appears.
You will find listed, all the connection status parameters, including the IP address being used.
Follow similar route for 95, 98, Vista and 7, but the icons may be different.
You can find your IP by going to google and searching "What is my IP". Your local address should appear on the screen. If not you can open Command Prompt and type "ipconfig" and press enter to get your IP and DNS addresses.
I copied this from another similar question ...
Go to Start > Run.
In the Run window type CMD and click Ok.
In the command prompt enter the command ipconfig your IP address will be listed under your local connection (your Internet connection), this is not always accurate if you use a router, for better results try ipchicken.com
Hope this helps ;-)
