Special tools are needed to remove those fittings. The tools are not expensive. Check with your local auto parts store, they will have them available.

To bypass the heater core you need to remove the two water hoses going through the firewall from the engine compartment to the heater core and connect them together so that the water loops around back to the engine.
Heater core? Inlet or outlet hose fitting at heater core?
It should be on the passenger side under the dash or in the engine compartment on the same side. It will be in a housing that will have to be taken apart.
The firewall would be the metal wall between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.
You first have to drain the radiator, then you diconnect the heater hoses to your heater core .in the engine compartment. Then you remove the cover off the heater core assembly under the passenger side , under the glove box. Then you take straps off the heater core off. and replace . Install every thing you removed previously and refill your radiator and your done.

The 1989 Dodge Dakota automatic shutdown relay switch is located in the fuse box. The fuse box can be found in the engine compartment.
Go to your local dodge dealer and ask if you can get a copy.
That would be the panel between the bottom of the windshield and the rear of the engine compartment hood.

The blinker relay can be found in a 1986 Nissan Pickup in the engine compartment on the fender wall. There are several relay switches located next to the battery.
