look at the bracket where your rear veiw mirror attaches to the windshield,,, ok then on the bottom side there is a little hexagon screw,,,take it out with a small Allen wrench,,then slip the rear veiw mirror up off the steel base that is glued to the winsheild itself,, you should have no problem
Remove the plastic cover on the inside behind the mirror and then remove the three nuts holding ther mirror on. When you pull out the mirror unclip the wiring harness.
Remove the inside door panel. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the mirror retaining bolts. The side rear view mirror will come off.

On my wife's 1993 Ford Tempo,when you remove the transmiision pan(after draining fluid), the filter can be seen just inside. It looks like a bag and has a female end which slips over whatever the part is called that it is attached to.
If you look on the bottom side of the mount, there should be a hole or indention. There is a spring on the inside of that and it has to be depressed in order to remove the mirror.

there is a plastic insert on the inside part of the door remove it and there are two bolts holding it on.
To replace the driver side mirror on a 2003 Ford Focus you will need a socket and a Philips head screwdriver. Loosen the driver side door panel so that you can reach inside to unplug the wiring harness, and then remove the bolt and screw to remove the mirror. Put the new mirror in place and reattach everything you just removed.
