Block rear wheels, and lift on a jack, put jackstands up under front of frame away from engine as far as you can get. Disconnect battery, disconnect shift lever on left side of transmission (if 700R4) and remove the electrical pickup plugs that are plugged into it.
Disconnect the kickdown cable and the lines going to the tranny, take off the tranny inspection cover. and rotate flywheel to remove the torque converter bolts. Disconnect the driveshaft and remove the rear crossmember underneath the tranny tailshaft, get it all outta the way. slide a jack under the pan to help yourself (the thing is heavy!)
Remove the engine to transmission bellhousing bolts, starting at the top, there is 1 in the center then 3 or 4 in pairs along the sides of the engine on the way down to the pan.
Once the bolts are all out as well as the brackets that may be on them, put a little tension on the jack, and try to keep it centered, slide tranny straight back off the 2 alignment pins (you can see where the larger holes are on the transmission bellhousing) about an inch, and lower the jack carefully put transmission on something like a big towel, and slide it out. Took me about 2 hours in my friends driveway. Saved $900 in installation and removal fees by doing so by myself.
The specs of a Chevrolet pickup truck typically include either automatic or manual transmission, V6 or V8 engine, Am/FM radio with built in CD player, and rear wheel drive.
No it will not. The center shaft that's in the 2-wheel drive transmission is shorter then the 4-wheel drive transmissions. Therefore the transfur case will not fit on the 2-wheel drive transmission.
