there are two bolts on the bottom af the alternator you have to loosen and one on top in an arch with a slot for adjustment loosen all three and pull the alt towards the front of the car to remove the belt. install the new one then snug the bolts and adjust the tension then tighten all bolts. even high quality belts will need tightened after they stretch,i usually have to re tighten twice then they are fine, dont overtighten belt tension or you may damage alt or water pump bearings
Take it to the shop if you have never done it before
can you change the alternator belt in a 1998 Chevy metro from under the car.
how do you replace 1997 alternator belt
do not have a clue!!!!good luck though. i need the same answer only for a 1999 metro:(
The alternator is basically the tensioner on a three cylinder Metro. The bolt that holds the alternator tight to its adjustment bracket must be loosened. You may need to pry on the alternator to slide it so the belt will be loose enough to remove. After you have removed the old belt and put the new one in the correct way, the alternator will definitely need to be pried on to tighten belt, then tighten bolt on adjuster. Just be careful what you pry on.
If the engines are the same size then yes (ie) 3 cylinder 1.0L to 3 cylinder 1.0L.

Remove the cables from the alternator. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the alternator belt. Remove the retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new alternator.
You have to find the alternator then look at where it is connected to the motor there will be a slide mechanism that you will have to loosen which will release the slack on the belt so you can get it off.
Disconnect battery a battery terminal Losen the Alternator bolt which is located on the up/down bracket. Once losen, you can adjust the tightness/slackness of the belt. Hope this helps, james
Remove the belt from your 1999 Chevy Metro water pump. Remove the water pump return hose. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to replace the water pump.
Are you referring to a 200 model Metro? If so, there is no fuel filter to replace. 1998-2000 Metros have a fuel strainer in the tank. I have a 1999 Metro 3-cylinder and learned this over the summer when contacting the Chevrolet dealer. Are you referring to a 200 model Metro?
