How do you replace the water pump on a 1992 Chevy Metro 3.0L 4 cylinder?
do not have a clue!!!!good luck though. i need the same answer only for a 1999 metro:(
Why would a 2003 Chevy trailblazer 4.2L -6-cylinder LS makes a clanking noise by the radiator but not over heating?
What size engine is it first? If the engine is a 4 cylinder. The water pump is under the exhaust manifold. Where the thermostat is. Find the lower radiator hose and there will be a black tube that runs under the engine block and then it goes up under the exhaust manifold. You will find it there with the thermostat. The water pump is not that big.
If it had a cam belt I would recommend you change it at the same time as the cam belt. However the 4 cylinder 2003 has a cam chain, so no maintenance is required. Replace the water pump when it fails or starts leaking. Or as preventive maintenance you can just replace it at 100,000 miles. Your choice.
the water pump is Timing Chain driven behind the engine . Just follow the bottom coolant hose to the back of the engine and that's where u will find the thermostat housing as well. The front engine cover and timing chain has to come off to replace the water pump. talk about a messed up design ....... u can mail me back at : firstname.lastname@example.org
Grey smoke can actually be one, of two things. A lean misfire condition, which will cause the engine to surge at cruising speeds, which would seem like a skip, or miss. The other would be if it were steam, like water leaking into the cylinder, and burning. You would have to be adding water to replace that is leaking into the cylinder, and it would hot, from time to time.
