there is a plastic clip that holds in the bulb on the back side of the headlight under the hood, its a circular clip that turns either way and on some vehicles you have to take the whole fixture out(like a 2000 Ford Taurus) then the bulb comes out of the headlight assembly and has an o-ring that seals the water out and holds the beam in

The headlight is an assembly. To replace the headlight, you remove the bulb from the back side. It is a halogen bulb, so do not touch with bare hards before installing.
There are two metal clips behind the each headlight. Pull these upward, and the entire headlight will come out very easily. To replace the bulb, do so without touching the glass parts of the halogen bulb,and replace the headlight. Secure with the two clips. See, it was easy.

There is a connector sticking out the back side of the bulb. Turn that connector about 10 - 20 degrees to the left and pull out. This will expose the halogen bulb.

There are two hex/star screws above the headlight casing that need to be removed first. Unplug the Halogen bulb (a flatheaded screw driver my be needed to pry the locking clasp) To install the new Halogen bulb reverse the above steps be very careful to NOT touch the Halogen Bulb itself. The oils on your skin can cause the bulb to blow out sooner when power is given to the bulb. Tighten everything back up and you are done...
Are you sure it's the proper headlight for the car? Occasionally, installing a halogen bulb as a replacement (when the original was non-halogen) will cause the fuse to blow.
for the halogen bulb from the inside turn the retaining ring counter clockwise and pull bulb out, install bulb in socket and reinstall into lamp, then turn retaining ring clockwise.
On older vehicles you replace the entire headlight. On the newer vehicles you just replace the bulb unless the headlight assembly is damaged.
