For Truman, the choice whether or not to use the atomic bomb was the most difficult decision of his life. When Harry Truman learned of the success of the Manhattan Project, he knew he was faced with a decision of unprecedented gravity. The capacity to end the war with Japan was in his hands, but it would involve unleashing the most terrible weapon ever known. On Aug. 9, 1945, three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki. After the bombing, Japan accepted the Potsdam terms and unconditionally surrendered to the United States on Aug. 14, a day known as Victory in Japan, or V-J, Day. It marked the end of World War II. In May 1943, the U.S. was planning to use the bomb not on Germany but Japan. The following September, the U.S. and British leaders agreed to use the bomb against Japan. It was a terrible thing to do but war has nothing good and we didn't start it.
By draopping the bomb the US showed Japan that it will not tolerate any conditions
probably would have, but japan did NOT have the atomic bomb...........
Invade Japan at the cost of 2 million US soldiers.
A written warning to Japan with options.
By dropping an atom bomb on Hiroshima and another on Nagasaki
No.
Yes, absolutely. Was that all you wanted to know, or were you interested in what that reason was?
If you mean what happened to them at the end of WW2 then they were invaded by America (USA) and the USA dropped an atomic bomb on them as a symbol of strength to scare the Japanese and force them to surrender in which they succeeded. The US occupied Japan after dropping the atomic bomb, but it never invaded Japan. The reason for dropping the A-Bomb was to prevent the need to invade.
because they(the us) had used an atomic bomb, almost wiping out the entire population.
Yes and it took 15 years to rebuild Japan.
Most people say that is was not necessarily. However, the world is forgetting about the nuclear attacks in Japan.
