26 of the 43 US presidents were admitted to the bar as lawyers. Madison and Monroe studied but did wish to practice it. Theodore Roosevelt went to law school for a year but dr…opped out without taking the bar exam. Woodrow Wilson was a scholar of political science and taught law courses but was not a lawyer.
