Michael Badnarik began studying the Constitution and Bill of Rights twenty-five years ago, which led him to the disturbing conclusion that MOST of what our federal, state, and local governments do is unconstitutional. He finds this state of affairs unconscionable and totally unacceptable. Since then he has done everything within his sphere of influence to restore our Constitutional republic. This quest has led him to run for Texas State Representative in 2000 and 2002; to successfully win the Libertarian nomination for President of the United States in 2004: and to campaign for US Congressional Representative from Texas in 2006. I heard him say on his radio broadcast on WTPRN.com on July 30 2007 that 58,000 American soldiers died during the war and that 68,000 committed suicide after coming back from the war.

Why was Veterans Day originally called armistace day?

World War 1 ended in 1918 on November 11th with the Armistice. That Armistice was commemorated as the end of the worst conflict ever to occur in global history. The name was changed to Veterans Day to include those that served in World War 2 and other conflicts. At the time, WWI was the "war to end all wars." When the treaty was signed, it was the Great Armistice since there wouldn't be any more "great" wars. Since then there have of course been many wars and it's now called Veterans Day to honor all vets.

What is the average age of Vietnam Veterans?

The average would be around 60-65. The youngest Viet War vet might be around 52 years old. Since the war ended in '75, some US Marines/Airmen/Sailors were 17 years old when they helped evacuate Saigon during it's fall in April '75. Many of the older Viet War vets, the WWII generation have passed on: GEN Curtis LeMay, Creighton Abrams, William Westermoreland, Robin Olds, to name a few. These men were in their 40's when they fought in Vietnam. It's interesting to note, that the Vietnam War was fought by WWII doctrine and tactics, because Vietnam was "conducted" by WWII veterans. Today's Viet Vets (the 60ish group) were teenage and early twenties privates fighting under WWII veteran's supervision.

Why do Vietnam veterans leave letters and gifts on the Vietnam war wall?

The names on the wall represent friends who we fought side-by-side with in combat. They were VERY close friends. Since the wall and the inscription of their names represent those friends, Vietnam veterans attempt to reach out or connect with those we lost by leaving mementos at the wall. It is like a family leaving flowers at the grave of a loved one, only a bit more personal.

When did The Suicide Commandos end?

The Suicide Commandos, an American punk rock band, originally disbanded in 1979. However, they have reunited and performed sporadically since the 1990s, so their end can be seen as more of a hiatus rather than a permanent breakup.
