There are only 3 sects of shia. but only 12 Imam shia exist mainly and other nearly extincted.

this question needs more clarification. if means by community as sect, there are many sects in shia which in a book by the name of Sects of shia of Nobakhti explained. but the most famous community of shia are Athna Ashari or twelfth imams sect, Ismailite,waqefiyyah, Zaydiyyah,Batenniyyah and others.
