You might be confused. It is the MASSASAUGA rattler and is found on the Bruce Peninsula and Georgian Bay region. Check the Ojibway Nature centre's website.
There are no 'poisonous' snakes in Canada. However, Canada does have 3 venomous snakes that can pose a threat:
Northern Pacific rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis oreganus)
Found in interior British Columbia, this snake can measure more than 1.6 metres in length. They prefer short-grass prairie and dry, open scrubland. When disturbed, Northern Pacific rattlesnakes defend themselves by coiling, vibrating their rattle and striking. While their bites are seldom fatal, you should always be cautious when around these snakes.
Massasauga (Sistrurus catenatus)
Primarily limited to the Georgian Bay area of Ontario, Massasaugas seldom grow longer than 75 centimetres. They are commonly found near water. They are not an aggressive snake by nature and will often remain motionless if someone walks by. However, they will coil and can strike if they feel threatened.
Prairie rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis viridis)
Found in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta, this snake can reach a maximum length of more than 1.6 metres. They also prefer short-grass prairie and dry, open scrubland. If disturbed, they will defend themselves by coiling, vibrating their rattle and striking. While their strikes are seldom fatal, they are venomous and you should be careful when you’re in their habitat.
A poison must be ingested to kill or injure. A venom must be injected. No snakes are poisonous but some are venomous.
The population of deadly snakes in Canada would vary and it would be very hard to do a census. I don't believe anyone knows.
Yes.
None, there are no poisonous snakes. There are venomous snakes but not poisonous. The difference is the poison is usually on the skin of an animal like a frog, and you touch the poison and then get hurt. Venom is emitted by fangs or spikes into your skin or a body part and injected into you. There are no poisonous snakes.

The anti-venom for many poisonous snakes, as well as a few other medically valuable substances, are made from the venom of poisonous snakes. Also, if someone has to handle poisonous snakes regularly, if they are milked on a set schedule, it reduces the danger of a bite from one of the snakes - the venom injected would be a tiny amount of normal.
