Unfortunately yes. They are married so the 17 year old must be of age or have had parent's consent to get married. The are both considered a married couple and adults. He could be bringing in the alcohol for himself and not letting her/him have any and that's OK, but if he is sharing it with the 17 year old there isn't much you can do. You'll only get a lot of lies such as: "Well, I'm the only one that drinks and I didn't give it to her/him, they took it themselves. I can't keep them away from it." This case is no different than if you and you spouse were drinking in your home with this 17 year old around. It's amazing how so many people never truly see how alcohol circulates around their own homes or even at social events. Some kids will go around and sample the guest's drinks and some kids have got completely bombed this way. Other parents feel once the child(ren) is in their teens the odd beer won't hurt. Kids are so willing to grow up way too fast. "Monkey see, monkey do." There are kids in Canada who are alcoholics at the age of 10!!!! Yes, it's true. Once your children are away from home with their friends, parents generally lose control as to what their kids are doing. There is even alcohol in some of the schools as well as drugs. In many of our schools in British Columbia, Canada they "frisk" the kids now for not only weapons, but for drugs and alcohol. Teens have been known to bring in those water bottles or juice boxes and it can sometimes be loaded with Votka (a good choice to them because it doesn't smell.) Sorry, but this 17 year old is out of your control. Try having a talk with him/her and see where it goes from there. Good luck Marcy
