My husband and I went through this a few years ago. He entered as a visitor and then we married. We just went to our local immigrations office and asked what we should do now. They were very helpful and gave us all of the paperwork that we needed to fill out. Be sure to send your paperwork certified mail that way you know it has been received by the office. After filing our paperwork, it only took about 2 months to get a work authorization. After that, we had to get his social security number. They sent us a letter telling us when we had to come for our face to face interview, which was very friendly and easy. Just be sure that you have lots of documentation about your relationship. You'll need things like utility bills, rent receipts, bank accounts, letters from employer, things like that to prove your intent on living here and that you're marriage is for real. Be sure things are in both of your names and that you make copies of everything before you go. It's also a good idea to bring letters, cards, phone receipts and anything else that will prove your relationship prior to the marriage. If you need anymore information, email righter96@Yahoo.com.
