New France was the term describing the French possessions in North America: Louisiana, Québec and Acadia. New France was ceded to Britain after the Seven Years War (a.k.a. the French and Indian War) by the Treaty of Paris (1763).

New France is the region in North America that was colonized by France during their colonial days. This region was divided into five smaller administrative regions: Canada, Acadia, Hudson Bay, Newfoundland, and Louisiana.

Canada, Acadia, Hudson Bay, and Newfoundland are currently parts of the modern country of Canada. Where as Louisiana is now part of the United States of America.

New France is not the same as France, but a former colony of it. New France was the area controlled by the French, stretching from nowadays Quebec to New Orleans, Louisiana, through the plains of what is now the US.
