Because there are many posters asking political questions and their country being divided regarding President Bush I did put this question on the board and I also answered it with truth!
This is an extremely complex situation and not easily answered. Some American people would have you believe that the general public is not smart enough to understand what is going on in their own country (bad mistake!) The American people are most certainly aware of what is going on and most aren't swallowing a lot of what President Bush is doing and they no longer believe in "America and Apple Pie" but still dedicated to their country. Here is some of President Bush's vast accomplishments to 2003:
Accomplishments as President (as if) 2003
RECORDS AND REFERENCES:
The above is true (not media influenced) and it's really up to an individual to look at both sides of this man and then decide if they feel he is doing the best for Americans. My question as a Canadian is "if he has nothing to hide regarding documents then why keep them sealed?" There are no excuses, but hiding the truth before he became Governor (would have hurt his chances of being elected as well as running for the Presidency).
One has to decide on their own steam and I don't always believe what the media says either. I look at this man and see one thing ... "The eyes are the windows of your soul" and I find when he makes his speeches he avoids the camera like the plague and if he should gaze into the camera his eyes are blank! Without his cue cards he has nothing much to say! Canadians have their own scandals in government as well, but we're not so easily persuaded with "bad media" as an excuse and we want answers. Americans have the right to expect this as well!
Believe in him or don't!
To the poster below. I have no idea where you get your info from, but I did the research and don' believe all stats that come down the pike. Don't blame the messenger ... I didn't write the truth!
An American (US) ViewGeorge Bush took an oath to defend the United States from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. He is doing his best to accomplish this despite the opposition from the liberal left politicians and their supporters in the press and Hollywood. Perhaps you should get your facts from someplace besides Doonesbury. A few of your points are easily refuted and I am not going to waste my time trying to prove a negative on the rest. What do you think research is? You can start with a website like that of which you mentioned and prove whether this person's statements are true and I DID DO THAT RESEARCH ON OTHER WEBSITES. Like anyone with intelligence I want to be sure the statements are as close to the truth as one can get. Part of my working job is to do research! I can't afford to believe "trash websites". This board is not meant to be used as a battle ground, and it's OK to agree to disagree. I'm not bashing the American people, but all the world has a right to their opinion of the President because the U.S. was the largest leader in the world and thus, all eyes are upon them. If you did your research correctly you would find that this is the truth and it has never been once disputed. I don't go onto "trashy" websites. I did see that website you mentioned (researched each detail), and since I proved it to be true I did put these points down . It is true that Americans are divided re President Bush and if you kept up with politics he's losing a lot of voters to this day. To believe or disbelieve in President Bush is a Westerner's Constitutional Right and I left my last post as such. I simply gave food for thought. That gives you the right to believe in him and other Americans or Canadians not to believe in him. You're simply out for personal vengeance on this board, and if you want to make a point then YOU back it up! Where's your research????
Telling me I went on a "trash" website to get this information (I did pick subjects from this website) but investigated it further and it is a fact that these statements have never been proven wrong and that those documents re President Bush are sealed! If you follow President Bush's actions then you can plainly see with your own eyes what he has done to the country. You conveniently left out Health Care (extremely poor are suffering and some basically over-looked) not to mention taking away Health Benefits from war vets (what are these poor soldiers fighting for YOUR country going to come home too now!) and the fact he was the first President to be egotistical enough to go against the United Nations! We are all suppose to work together to try and keep this world a more peaceful place.
If you research on unemployment the stats speak volumes! If you listened harder, Dan Rather and Andrew Heyward had no option but to retract their statement because of CBS Management! Mr. Rather and Mr. Heyward did so to keep their jobs, but they searched for the truth, got it, and still believe in their search for the truth. Dan Rather has been an excellent and trusted reporter of news for many years. If you also watched 60 minutes you would have gotten more on the low-down regarding this. Your own President put his country into bankruptcy so again I don't know where you are getting your information from. It is common knowledge that the U.S. Government is borrowing millions off Canada and not even President Bush is disputing this one.
You have said absolutely nothing to prove my statements are wrong!
Trash Website? You're the one who called it that, not me, and you're the one who agrees with it. If you did the research, why did your list come up in exactly the same order, with exactly the same wording in most of the points? Please direct me to a website that supports your claim that all 50 states have gone bankrupt with actual economic figures. I have searched and I find the statement that "at least 48 states are bankrupt" was made by Lyndon La Rouche on January 19, 2004, at the Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the Talladega County (Alabama) Democratic Conference. He repeated this statement at a press conference on March 29. He offered not a shred of evidence. We must just take his word for it. All other references to states going bankrupt are found in various versions of the tripe you have so seriously researched. You have said absolutely nothing to prove your statements are right.Obama and the worst is Reagan and GW Bush
---- === === ---- === === definitely not the best!
F.D.R. was THE best Democratic President we evah had [ Bush was Republican]
He was president at the end of the Cold War.
President W. Bush! A bush is a plant, I learned this in a Riddle our teacher gave us in class!!!
I don't think Bush is trying to take our democracy away, he's trying the best he can to keep our country safe. HE has been put in a very difficult situation and these aren't just his decisions, they have to be supported by Congress in order to become laws so obviously other people feel the same way he does. Please give Bush some credit he's doing the best he can. And if you don't like the way he's running things why don't you stand up and take action! This is your country to so just don't sit there and complain! DO SOMETHING!!!!! Answer above, says it all.
This question can only be answered by personal opinion. Factually, they both had their ups and downs, like any president, and tried their best to address the problems at hands. A better question would be "which bush has better problem solving skills?" in which I would answer H.W. Bush
There is no country who is better. all have the opportunity of doing the best.
G. Dubya Bush. My vote is Abe Lincoln. Ronald Reagan
I like him. I truly believe history will eventually see him as a good president. I felt that this country was safe while he was in office. I feel he led with his heart, to do the best he could for us. He was moral and righteous.
