Im not sure exactly what you are asking. Did you find a broken nut in the used oil when you drained it? if so it most assuredly came from inside the engine, or is the oil drain plug stripped? in that case then yes it was tightened too much or cross threaded and tightened too much. What do you mean by " inside " the oil pan? was it removed for some reason? Post to my message board if you need to clarify... Ganderton
