I would not expect it, but it could depend on how the car was operating before the sensor was replaced. A sulfur (rotton egg) smell is associated with running rich (improper air fuel ratio). It is possible the engine was running rich with the bad sensor becaues the normal af control system was not working.
If there is a smell from the former operation it should be completely gone after a ten mile trip, and it should not come back.

I own A 1995 Isuzu Trooper 8 cyl. I have been having the same problem and with much research and what-not i have found out the Oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, as well, because i have waited so long to replace it, the Catalytic converter now needs to be replaced. I hope that your car has not gotten to this point because the cost to replace the catalytic converter is $700+. the cost to replace the O2 sensor is $270+. The cost to replace the sensor yourself is 40 dollars and the cost of the converter itself is 80 dollars. I know the sensor is fairly easy to replace but i have no idea about the converter. I hope that helps.
