Volvo blower speed is controlled by an NPN power transistor -N3055- which most people for some reason call a resistor. Its under the dash on the passenger' side. It gets very hot and normally packs due to that, you'll find it on a heat sink somewhere there, very easy to test, cost less than a dollar to replace, you'd be surprised!

Could be either or, but also a switch, not to exclude wiring or connections.

the Blower resistor pack is in the vent along the firewall its a white retangular door 1"X2" with one screw with a star head... your local ford dealer has replacement resistor packs and have been redesigned...It fixed the problem with mine...It only cost $14 I have a 1995 ford explorer console fan is not blowing at all (heat or cold). Typically a relay or resistor. But could be a blower switch or blower motor problem.

Car is making noise like a leaf blower when I accelerate and it sounds like it's coming from the motor what could it be?
I have experienced the same problem a couple of times recently. I have no idea what this might have been, but it definitely sounded like a leaf blower and it happened twice when engine was at normal operating temperature. At first, I thought the noise was coming from outside (somebody using the blower), then, when I realized it is coming from under the hood I stopped and checked. However, I could not pinpoint the problem. Did you get this resolved and /or look at? Please share your experience.

This could be your actual blower motor that is bad. It is spendy and hard to get to, but this could be the problem.

As for why it blows only on the high speed you most likely will have a bad blower resister and for the noise, it could be a bad blower motor, bad blower wheel or trash that is stuck in the blower wheel or housing.......

Assuming you're referring to the HVAC blower, and not the engine fan, it could be a bad relay, the blower motor could be seized or a solenoid burnt out, it could be bad wiring, it could be a problem with the control switch.

Not too sure if this will help. I have a Volvo 1995 S90 with a similar problem - power windows, indicators and dash lights all were not working. I found that it had to do with the ignition. When i turn on the car and discover that these aspects are not functioning properly i twitch the key a millermeter towards me and they all fire up.- Could be a different problem, but thought you might want to know...Volvo AnswerNot too sure if this will help.
