There was a article that claims a dangerous gas in car air conditioners is causing lung cancer and alzheimer. They claim that the exhaust of a car can possible mix with the Freon then forms a toxic gas that vents out into your car. This can not be possible true says TruthOrFriction.com
continued: 1) Freon has been banned in cars for quite a few years now. It isa
rather quick process; no cold air, no refrigerant in system. If it
leaked out and your lungs did not freeze and you die, then you
did not inhale it. However the oily residue in a freon system is
mineral oil which does not bond with freon.
2) In any refrigerant system; oil and refrigerant are combined under
pressure. If a leak occurs the oil under pressure is atomized, hence
oily residue and mist. Doesn't mean you lost refrigerant though.
3) I would be worried more about the governments unbanned use of
CFC oils and any used for drilling. Like I said before refrigerant does NOT chemically bond. So the (coolant oil) separate and (freon) wafts away.
Drilling companies use barrels of (coolant oil) in hours. Your car doesn't begin to compare to what drilling uses.
