The old marketing concepts are still very much used today without much change. The sales funnel or purchase funnel was first developed by St. Elmo Lewis in 1898. This funnel has been adapted at sometime to every possible marketing strategy. Only recently has Google challenged the purchase funnel with a new digital sales model called ZMOT (Zero Moment of Truth). No complete understanding can be had without a serious look at the posters of WW2, and most importantly the Stalin political Propaganda pieces. Still considered by many as the best social engineering campaign of all time. We don't call this propaganda any more we call this type of adverting PSA (Public Service Announcements).
